Adoption Requirements:
We require all pets in the home to be spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and on heartworm prevention. You will need to email a copy of your current or most recent pets’ medical records to oklahomagsr@gmail.com. You can get these records by calling or emailing your vet’s office. If you rent, we will need authorization from your landlord that German Shepherds are allowed. A fenced-in yard is preferred. Homes without fences will be considered on a case-by-case basis. References may not be related to you. If you have questions, please send us an email!
Be sure to check your email inbox and spam folders after submitting your application, as that is how we will communicate with you. An email notifying you if you are approved will come from Shelterluv.
Adoption Fees (unless otherwise noted), effective March 1, 2024
Puppies, 8 weeks to 1 year: $400
Adults, 1 to 7 years: $350
Seniors, 7+ years: $250
All dogs are spayed or neutered and have received age-appropriate
The adoption fee funds all aspects of the rescue such as the cost of routine and preventative health care, transportation to bring dogs to foster homes and to veterinary appointments, training for dogs that need behavioral help to get them ready for adoption, the purchase of food for dogs in foster care, boarding fees for dogs that can’t stay in foster homes, and medical costs for dogs that need life-saving treatments and surgeries.
Only approved adopters may schedule meet and greets with our dogs. All household members must attend the meet and greet or a request for adoption may be denied. Potential adopters’ dogs must also attend the meet and greet to make sure the dogs get along. Even if you are unsure which dog you would like to adopt, we recommend filling out an application and getting approved first so you are ready when the right dog comes along.
To ensure your new family member is a good fit, dogs may be returned within 14 days of adoption for any reason. The adoption cost is refunded minus a processing fee of not more than $15.
Please allow up to 5 business days for processing. We are an all-volunteer group with no paid staff. Many of our volunteers work full-time jobs and help the rescue in their spare time. We strive to reply to everyone in a timely manner. If you don’t hear from us in a reasonable amount of time, please follow up with us by email at oklahomagsr@gmail.com. Please note, your application will be processed quickly if you fill it out completely and email medical records.
